What’s this about?
We’re a Aussie cricket league, created for those of you who want to play cricket locally - but perhaps you want to keep your summer weekends free of the fuss of cricket, or play something with a slightly more casual vibe.
We’ve based our 8 a side format on T20 cricket, but combined it with some safer, higher energy and more fun friendly rules to ensure everyone is involved across the game. Our matches will take only a little over 2 hours, instead of a massive weekend afternoon commitment. We simply run a 6 match competition on the first 3 weeks of December and last 3 weeks of January each year as well as occasional tournaments on long weekends.
The rules are simple:
We play 8 a side, each player has a role.
Each innings goes for 24 x 4 ball overs.
Each batting pair bats for 8 overs and instead of going out, they are docked 5 runs for each dismissal, or 10 for being bowled. Each player on the opposing team, bowls an over at each batting pair.
Each match is managed by a Cricko Umpire - no square leg duties!
Cricko scores and data are managed and circulated for all teams and players weekly so you can keep track of all the details.
Start time? To make sure we have enough sunlight, games start at 6pm and run through to 8.15pm - we need a representative from each team to arrive 10 mins early for captain’s duties like the toss.
When does the tournamet run? Our 6 match competition is on the first 3 weeks of December and last 3 weeks of January , with the final played in the first week of February.
